Key highlights of the report:
An INR 120bn is already set to come into the Telecom sector through the PLI scheme, of which about 25% will go into creating new jobs, generating the momentum needed towards a greater number of employment opportunities in this sector.
5G will significantly boost employment in Agriculture, Construction, Utilities, Manufacturing, Transportation and Warehousing, Educational Services, etc.
IT and Banking and Financial Services would be among the leading beneficiaries as per our survey results. The other sectors which will be significantly impacted by the 5G are BFSI (60%), Education (48%), Gaming (48%) and Retail and ECommerce (46%).
The in-demand 5G skills as per our survey respondents are: Cloud Infrastructure Engineers, Cybersecurity Experts, and Data Science Specialists.
A large majority (88%) of employers feel that upskilling and reskilling existing employees is the way forward towards closing the impending demand-supply gap in the telecom industry.
